TAPE LIBRARIES

AIT 2000 TREEFROG

Equipped with industry-leading AIT technology, the AIT2000 TreeFrog provides an affordable backup and storage solution for today's distributed networks and servers.

The cornerstone of this simple design is an integrated picker and uni-body robotic chassis. The intelligent picker design accomplishes all robotic motion with only two motors while providing the required precision and reliability required for datacenter-class backup. The ability to pick and place media with only a few moving parts is the key to the TreeFrog's low cost and high reliability

To simplify media management, a removable cartridge pack with an integrated dust cover protects tapes throughout media rotations. Drives can be replaced easily by loosening the captive 1/4-turn screws and removing a simple drive mechanism. The library connects to a server via a fast/wide SCSI-2 interface or Fibre Channel Optical interface and is compatible with popular backup and archive software packages.

Additional features like an optional Fibre Channel interface and split-mode operation -- which allows a single tape library to function as two separate libraries -- makes the BullFrog an extremely powerful and flexible option for today's data center.

BullFrog users can start with a single-drive, 20-cartridge library at an entry-level price. As needs increase, you can add additional drives (up to four), buy a 20 cartridge carousel upgrade (40-cartridges total), and add a barcode reader. If you have a Storage Area Network in your future, the AIT BullFrog is also available with a Fibre Channel interface.

  • Easy upgrade paths for extra capacity, improved performance and fibre channel interface simplify planning for the future.
  • A touch screen LCD control panel provides access to robotics and diagnostics.
  • Standard barcode reader for automated media management.
  • High capacity library fits in seven inches of rack space.

AIT 20000/64000 GATOR

Spectra Logic’s enterprise tape library architecture meets the needs of mid-range to high-end datacenters. If your goal is to centralize backup and restore operations across a heterogeneous enterprise, nothing compares to the Gator family of tape libraries for performance, connectivity, reliability, storage and return on investment.

The entry level model (Spectra 20000) is scalable up to 200 cartridges and eight tape drives with a minimum configuration of 30 cartridges and two tape drives. The largest model in the family (Spectra 64000) delivers state-of-the-art enterprise data management with up to 640 cartridges and 32 tape drives in a single rack—the industry’s highest storage density.

High Availability Features
To ensure maximum uptime, the Gator family incorporates a number of high-availability features into the library design, including hot-swappable drive modules (shown at left), control electronics, host interface electronics and N+1 redundant Power Packs in addition to closed-loop tape drive control and built-in drive diagnostics.

Flexibility - Shared Library Services
Allocate a library's resources across your heterogeneous enterprise. By creating logical libraries you can provide support for multi-platforms, software applications, tape drives, media, and interface technologies, all in the same physical library.  No other library offers this much flexibility and return on investment.

Rugged Picker Design
At the heart of the Gator design is a counter-balanced rack and pinion picker mechanism. This picker can perform more than 600 tape handling operations per hour and has been designed to surpass two million mean cycles between failure (MCBF). In the rare event that the picker needs to be replaced, simply loosen a set of captive screws and slide the entire assembly out through the front panel. In less than ten minutes, the assembly is replaced and you’re moving tapes again.

Size and Storage Density
The Gator family offers the industry’s highest storage density, allowing you to manage a massive amount of data without wasting valuable space in your datacenter. The Gator family is scalable up to 640 cartridges and 32 tape drives—all in a standard NEMA 19” rack mount enclosure.

Best-of-Class User Interface
All models in the Spectra Logic Gator family are equipped with a color touch screen user interface, making day-to-day media rotations a breeze. The graphical user interface provides intuitive access to library configuration, status and diagnostics, as well as front panel access to media and drives.
In addition to the user interface, the Gator includes management capabilities such as SNMP, modem and Ethernet connectivity. The Gator can also be maintained via Spectra Logic’s Virtual Control Panel using the latest HTML and Java technologies.

T50 - The new standard for small tape libraries
For the first time, world-class data protection is available to groups and departments that measure their data
in gigabytes and terabytes, not in petabytes. The T50 offers the most advanced LTO technology and a powerful suite of capability, setting a new standard that other small libraries can only aim at. It’s simply the most scalable, easiest to use small library available anywhere. The Spectra T50 library is built on multiple generations of Spectra Logic hardware and software technology. Its extensive feature set is identical to the enterprise-level Spectra T950 and the mid-range T120 libraries. The field-proven architecture common to these libraries is called Spectra ’s BlueScale ™ environment.

Unmatched Ease of Use

The T50 provides unmatched ease of use, with time saving simplified media handling, a color touch screen with a graphical interface that’s intuitively easy to navigate, and remote management interface that lets you easily track and manage data. The idea is simple: a small, advanced library that can backup and archive data. It can be quickly and affordably added to virtually any environment, and it scales easily, both in performance by simply adding drives and in capacity through user installable five slot increment upgrades. The T50 saves significant staff time and effort with consolidated media handling. TeraPack ® technology lets you handle multiple LTO tapes at a time, grouped in increments of five and protected by a TeraPack case. Each tape, and the case itself, has a bar code, making it easy to track media both on-site and off-site. This makes backup and archiving data easier to manage and much easier to handle, saving time, effort, and ultimately, cost.

T950 - Lowering your data protection TCO

The Spectra T950 library with Python architecture represents a revolutionary and dramatically superior approach to convenient backup, archival and HSM operations.

Sometimes the simplest ideas yield multiple benefits. Spectra Logic’s TeraPack™ delivers the industry’s highest storage density, which is 200 percent greater than competing half-inch libraries. TeraPack also delivers significant improvements in media handling costs, operator and administrator efficiency, reliability, media management, platform longevity and performance. These features lower your total cost of ownership (TCO) by previously unmatched proportions.

What you need to know about the Spectra.T950 library:

  • 100 to 6150 cartridges
  • Up to 120 full height drives
  • LTO, SAIT and SDLT or AIT-4
  • LVD SCSI, 2 GB Fibre Channel and Gigabit Ethernet
  • NDMPServer Less BackupiSCSI
  • Includes 1 year of on-site SpectraGuard™ support
